Terrorist Acts in Near East — 1944-1948.

[Foreward: 'following the assassination of Count Folke Bernadotte by identified Jewish terrorists on September 17 [1948], the following report was prepared by UN staff for Dr. Bunche, Count Bernadotte’s replacement. It is a compilation of all identified terrorist attacks on British, American & Arab individuals & entities beginning with the assassination of the British Resident Middle East Minister on November 6, 1944 by members of the terrorist Jewish Stern Gang to the assassination of Count Bernadotte on September 17, 1948 by members of the same gang. Information sources: US Department of State, British Foreign Office & various American & British press services].November 6, 1944, Cairo. Lord Moyne, British Resident Minister in the Middle East, and his driver are assassinated outside the minister’s Cairo residence. Both murderers are arrested. One is injured.
January 1945: 10.1.1945, Cairo. British supreme military court today put on trial Eliahu Bet-Tsours from Tel Aviv & Eliahu Hakim of Haifa, both members of Jewish terrorist Stern Gang.
18.1.1945, Cairo. British supreme military court sentence Lord Moynes’ murderers to death. Both admit guilt & membership in Stern Gang which they said ordered the killings to warn British ‘not to interfere’ with future Jewish immigration.
March 22, 1945, Cairo. Two murderers of Lord Moyne & his driver are hanged today in the Cairo prison.
January 12, 1946, Palestine. A train is derailed by Jewish terrorists at Hadera near Haifa by a bomb & robbed of £35,000 in cash. Two British police are injured.
18.1.1946, Haifa. 900 Jewish immigrants are captured off Haifa by British Royal Navy.
19.1.1946, Jerusalem. Jewish terrorists destroy power station & portion of Central Jerusalem Prison by explosives. Two persons are killed by police.
22.1.1946, Palestine. Jewish terrorists attack British-controlled Givat Olga Coast Guard Station, between Tel Aviv & Haifa. Ten persons are injured, one killed. Captured papers indicate purpose of raid was ‘revenge’ on British for seizure of refugee ship, January 18. British military in Jerusalem question 3,000 Jews. 148 are held in custody.
April 25, 1946, Palestine. Jewish terrorists attack British installation near Tel Aviv. The group, containing a number of young girls, capture British weapons. British authorities detain 1,200 ‘suspects‘.
June 24, 1946, Palestine. Irgun radio “Fighting Zion” warn that three kidnapped British officers are being held ‘hostage’ for two Irgun members (Josef Simkohn & Isaac Ashbel) who face execution plus 31 Irgunists facing trial.
27.6.1946: Palestine. Thirty Irgun members are sentenced by a British military court to 15 years in prison. Benjamin Kaplan receives a life sentence for carrying a firearm.
29.6.1946: Palestine. British military & police raid Jewish settlements throughout Palestine searching for leaders of Haganah, largest Jewish terror group. Jewish Agency for Palestine is occupied & four top officials arrested. By end of June, 1946: 2,000 are arrested with four Jews & one British soldier killed.
July 1, 1946, Palestine. British officials announce discovery of a large arms dump buried underground at Meshak Yagur. 2,659 men & 59 women are detained during a three day operation against 27 settlements. Four are killed & 80 injured.
3.7.1946: Palestine. Palestine High Commissioner, Lt. General Sir Alan Cunningham commutes to ‘life imprisonment’ the death sentences of Josef Simkohn & Isaac Ashbel, both of Irgun.
4.7.1946, Tel Aviv. Irgun release unharmed British officers Captains K. Spencer, C. Warburton & A. Taylor, kidnapped on June 18 & held ‘hostage’ for lives of Simkohn and Ashbel. Irgun issue ‘declaration of war’ against Britain claiming they have ‘no alternative’ but to fight.
22.7.1946, Jerusalem. West wing of King David Hotel, Jerusalem, which houses British Military Headquarters & other government offices is destroyed at 12:57 PM by explosives planted in cellar by Irgun. By 26th July casualties reach 76 killed, 46 injured & 29 missing. Dead include British, Arabs & Jews. 23.7.1946, Jerusalem. Irgun Zvai Leumi claim ‘responsibility’ for King David, blaming British “tyranny.”
24.7.1946, London. British government release White Paper. Accuses Haganah, Irgun and Stern Gangs of “a planned movement of sabotage & violence” under direction of Jewish Agency. Asserts June 29th arrest of Zionist leaders was cause of King David Hotel bombing.
28.7.1946, Jerusalem. British Palestine Commander, Lt. General Sir Evelyn Barker, bans ‘fraternization’ by troops with Palestine Jews who: “cannot be absolved of responsibility for terror acts.” Order aims to “punish the race ...by striking at their pockets and showing our contempt for them.”
29.7.1946, Tel Aviv. Police raid Jewish workshop making bombs.
30.7.1946, Tel Aviv. 22-hour-a-day curfew imposed as 20,000 British troops begin house-to-house sweep for terrorists. City is sealed off from Jerusalem. Troops are ordered to ‘shoot-to-kill’ curfew violators.
31.7.1946, Tel Aviv. Large cache of weapons, counterfeiting equipment US$1,000,000 in counterfeit Government bonds are discovered in Tel Aviv’s largest synagogue.
31.7.1946, Haifa. Two ships arrive carrying 3,200 illegal Jewish immigrants.
August 2, 1946, Tel Aviv. British military authorities end curfew in Tel Aviv after detaining 500 persons for ‘further questioning‘. Second arms dump discovered on July 1 in Jewish school.
2.8.1946. Palestine Government release death toll for King David Hotel: 91 dead, 45 injured.
2.8.1946. Jerusalem police announce arrest of Itzhak Yesternitsky, second in command of Stern Gang.
12.8.1946, London. British Government says it will allow no more ‘unscheduled immigration’ to Palestine. Those seeking entry to the country will be sent to Cyprus and other areas under detention. Declaring ‘such immigration threatens a civil war’ with the Arab population, it charges a “minority of Zionist extremists” with attempting to force an unacceptable solution of ‘the Palestine Problem‘. 12.8.1946, Haifa. Two ships with 1,300 Jewish refugees arrive, Haifa. Port area is isolated on August 11 by British military & naval units. First deportation ship sailed for Cyprus carrying 500 Jews.
13.8.1946, Haifa. Three Jews killed, seven wounded after British troops fire on mob of about 1,000 persons attempting to force to Haifa port area. Two Royal Navy ships with 1,300 illegal Jews on board sail for Cyprus. A third ship, with 600 illegal immigrants, is captured & taken to Haifa.
26.8.1946, Palestine. British military search coastal villages of Casera & Sadoth Yam for three Jews who bombed transport “Empire Rival” last week. Eighty-five persons, including entire male population of one village, sent to the Rafa detention center.
27.8.1946. During 26/8 searches an explosive limpet mine, similar to one on “Empire Rival”, is found.
29.8.1946, Jerusalem. British Government commute to ‘life imprisonment’ death sentences imposed on 18 Jewish youths convicted of bombing Haifa’s railroad shops.
30.8.1946.British military units find arms & munitions dumps in Jewish farming villages, Dorot & Ruhama.
September 8, 1946, Palestine. Zionist terrorists cut Palestine railroad in 50 places.
9.9.1946, Tel Aviv. Two British officers are killed in an explosion at a public building.
9.9.1946, Haifa. Arab constable is killed.
10.9.1946, Palestine. British troops impose curfew. Arrest 101 Jews, wounding two, in search for saboteurs in Tel Aviv & neighboring Ramat Gan. Irgun terrorist group claim ‘aktion’ against railways on September 8, was a ‘protest‘.
14.9.1946, Jaffa. Jewish terrorists rob three banks in Jaffa & Tel Aviv, killing three Arabs. Thirty-six Jews are arrested.
15.9.1946. Tel Aviv. Jewish attackers of police station are driven off by gunfire.
October 2, 1946, Tel Aviv. British military & police seize 50 Jews in a Tel Aviv cafe after Jewish home is blown up. Home belongs to Jewess who refuses to pay extortion money to Irgun.
6.10.1946, Jerusalem. RAF man is killed by gunfire.
8.10.1946. Two British soldiers killed after their truck detonates land mine outside Jerusalem. Leading Arab figure wounded in similar mine explosion in Jerusalem. More road mines found near Government House.
31.10.1946, Rome. British Embassy damaged by bomb planted by Jewish terrorists.
November 3, 1946, Palestine. Two Jews & two Arabs are killed in clashes between Arabs & Jews attempting to build a settlement at Lake Hula, Northern Palestine.
4.11.1946, Rome. Italian authorities release letter: Irgun take ‘credit’ for October 31 embassy bombing.
5.11.1946, Palestine. British authorities release eight Jewish Agency leaders from Latrun concentration camp held since June 29: Moshe Shertok, Dr. Issac Greenbaum, Dr. Bernard Joseph, David Remiz, David Hacohen, David Shingarevsky, Joseph Shoffman & Mordecai Shatter. 2,550 Haganah suspects are also released plus 779 Jews arrested during King David bombing investigation.
7.11.1946. Railroad traffic is suspended 24 hours throughout Palestine after fourth Irgun attack in two days.
9 - 13.11.1946. Eleven British soldiers & police plus eight Arab constables killed in Palestine as Jewish terrorists use land mines & suitcase bombs in attacks on railroad stations, trains and streetcars.
14.11.1946, London. Board of Deputies of British Jews condemn Jewish terrorist threat to ‘export’ terrorism to England.
18.11.1946. Tel Aviv police attack Jews, assaulting many & firing into houses. Twenty Jews injured fighting British troops. Follows 17/11 death of three police & an RAF sergeant in land mine explosion.
20.11.1946, Jerusalem. Five people injured by bomb, Jerusalem Tax Office.
December 2 - 5, 1946, Palestine. Six British soldiers & four others die in bomb & land-mine explosions.
3.12.1946, Jerusalem. A member of Stern Gang is killed in aborted hold-up attempt.
26.12.1946, Palestine. Armed Jewish terrorists raid two diamond factories in Nathanya & Tel Aviv. Escape with $107,000 in diamonds, cash & bonds. Raids signal end to two-week ‘truce’ for World Zionist Congress.
January 1, 1947, Jerusalem. Dov Gruner is sentenced to hang by British military court for ‘taking part in a raid’ on Ramat Gan police headquarters, April 1946.
2.1.1947. Wave of terror sweeps Palestine. Jewish terrorists stage bombings & machine gun attacks in five cities. Casualties are low. Homemade flamethrowers are also used. Pamphlets seized warn Irgun have (again) declared war on ‘British and Arabs in Palestine‘.
4.1.1947, Jerusalem. British soldiers ordered to wear side-arms at all times & forbidden to enter cafes.
5.1. 1947, Egypt. Eleven British troops are injured in hand grenade attack on train carrying troops to Palestine. Attack took place near Benha, 25 miles from Cairo.
8.1. 1947, Palestine. British police arrest 32 persons suspected of being members of the Irgun terrorist gang’s “Black Squad” in raids on Rishon-el Zion and Rehoboth.
12.1.1947, Haifa. A single terrorist drives truck filled with high explosives into Central Police Station. Explodes it, killing two British policemen, two Arab constables & injuring 140 others. Terrorist escapes. Aktion ends 10-day lull in violence. Stern Gang take ‘credit’.
13.1.1947, Haifa. British soldiers & police screen 872 persons in Haifa. Detain 10 for ‘further questioning’.
14.1.1947, Jerusalem. Yehudi Katz is sentenced to life in prison by a Jerusalem court for robbing a bank in Jaffa in September of 1946 ‘to obtain funds for terrorism‘.
21.1. 1947, London. Dr. Emmanuel Neumann, vice president of Zionist Organization of America boasts “U.S. Zionists will spend millions” financing illegal Jewish immigration to Palestine. Haganah spokesman in Paris claims 211,878 Jews entered Palestine illegally during past 15 months.
22.1.1947, Palestine. Sir Harry Gurney, Chief Secretary: ‘the British administration is taxing Palestine $2,400,000 to cover cost of sabotage’ by terrorists.
22.1. 1947, London. Colonial Secretary Arthur Creech Jones informs House of Commons 73 British subjects were murdered by Palestine terrorists in 1946 and “no culprits have been convicted.”
27.1.1947, London. Jews boycott Britain’s conference on Palestine where Jamal el Husseini, Palestine Arab leader, declares the Arab world “unalterably opposed” to partition. Session then adjourns.
28.1. 1947: Irgun release Judge Ralph Windham, kidnapped in Tel Aviv on January 27 while trying a case.
29.1.1947, London. British Cabinet officially announce decision to partition Palestine.
29.1.1947, Jerusalem. Irgun forces release British banker & former Major H. Collins, kidnapped from his home on January 26. Was badly beaten. Collins & Windham are taken hostage for Dov Bela Gruner, an Irgunist under death sentence for terrorism. British High Commissioner Lt. Gen. Sir Alan Cunningham threatened martial law unless the two men return unharmed.
31.1.1947, Jerusalem. General Cunningham orders 2,000 wives & children of British civilians out of Palestine. Does not apply to 5,000 Americans.
February 2nd 1947, Palestine. Sabbath saw sporadic outbreaks of violence. Include murder of an Arab in Jaffa & a Jew in Bne Brok; kidnapping of a Jew in Peta Tikvah; burning of a Jewish club in Haifa.
5.2.1947, Jerusalem. Palestine Government issues 7-day ultimatum to Jewish Agency. Demands it state “categorically & at once” whether it and Supreme Jewish Council in Palestine will call on ‘Jewish community’ by February 10 to “cooperate with security forces in bringing to justice terrorist group members”. Request is publicly rejected by Golda Meyerson, Jewish Agency’s political department chief.
4.2.1947, Jerusalem. British District Commissioner James Pollock discloses plan for military occupation of three sectors of Jerusalem. Evacuates 1,000 Jews from Rehavia, Schneler & German quarters.
5.2. 1947, Jerusalem. Vaad Leumi reject British ultimatum; Irgun pass out leaflets saying it is “prepared to fight to the death” against British authority. First 700 of 1,500 British women & children ordered to evacuate Palestine leave by plane & train for Egypt. British authorities prepare for military action. Order other families from sections of Tel Aviv and Haifa which are turned into fortified military areas.
9.2.1947, Haifa. British troops remove 650 illegal Jewish immigrants from schooner “Negev” at Haifa & after a struggle force them aboard ferry “Emperor Haywood” for deportation to Cyprus.
14.2.1947, Jerusalem. British administration reveal Lt. Gen. Sir Evelyn Barker, retiring British commander in Palestine, has confirmed death sentences of three Irgun members: Dov Ben Rosenbaum, Eliezer Ben Kashani & Mordecai Ben Alhachi. All were sentenced on February 10 to be hanged for carrying firearms. Haim Gorovetzky, receives a life sentence due to ‘youth‘. MacMillan succeeds Barker.
March 9, 1947, Hadera. British army camp is attacked.
10.3.1947, Haifa. A Jew, suspected of being an informer, is murdered by Jewish terrorists.
12.3.1947, Jerusalem. British Army Pay Corps is dynamited in Jerusalem. A soldier is killed. 12.3.1947, Palestine. British military units capture 800 Jews off motor ship “Susanna” which ran British blockade & beached north of Gaza today. British naval escort brought “Ben Hecht,” Hebrew Committee of National Liberation’s first immigrant ship, into Haifa. Its 599 passengers are shipped to Cyprus. British arrest crew including 18 U.S. seamen.
13.3.1947, Jerusalem. British authorities announce 78 arrests as a result of ‘unofficial Jewish cooperation‘. Two railroads are attacked resulting in two deaths. Eight armed men rob a Tel Aviv bank of $65,000.
14.3.1947, Palestine. Jewish terrorists blow up part of oil pipeline in Haifa & section of rail line near Beer Yakov.
16.3.1947, Jerusalem. Jewish Agency building is bombed.
17.3.1947, Jerusalem. British authorities end martial law which has kept 300,000 Jews under house arrest for 16 days and stopped most economic activity.
17.3.1947, Palestine. Military court sentences Moshe Barazani to be hanged for possessing a hand grenade.
18.3.1947, Palestine. Terrorist leaflets admit murder of Michael Shnell on Mount Carmel as ‘informer‘.
22.3.1947, Palestine. British officials announce arrest of five known terrorists & discovery near Petah Tikvah of body of Leon Meshiah, a Jew slain as suspected ‘informer‘.
26.3.1947, London. Britain’s Privy Council reject appeal of death sentence against Dov Bela Gruner.
28.3.1947, Haifa. Irgun blow up Iraq Petroleum Co. pipeline in Haifa.
29.3.1947, Palestine. British army officer is murdered by Jewish terrorists when they ambushed a party of horsemen near Ramle camp. Raid by terrorists on Tel Aviv bank yields $109,000.
30.3.1947, Palestine. Royal Navy units answer an SOS. Take disabled “Moledeth”, with 1,600 illegal Jewish refugees on board, under tow 50 miles outside Palestinian waters.
30.3.1947, Tel Aviv. Stern Gang kill wife of British soldier.
31.3.1947, Haifa. Jewish terrorists dynamite British-owned Shell-Mex oil tanks, Haifa. Starts fire that destroys a quarter-mile of waterfront. Damage set at $1,000,000. British government in Palestine: ‘Jewish community will pay for it‘.
April 2, 1947: Cyprus. “Ocean Vigour” is damaged by bomb in Famagusta Harbor, Cyprus. Haganah admit the bombing.
2.4.1947: Jerusalem. Court in Jerusalem sentences Daniel Azulai & Meyer Feinstein, members of Irgun, to death for October 30 attack on Jerusalem railroad station. Palestine Supreme Court accept appeal of Dov Bela Gruner’s death sentence.
3.4.1947: Transport “Empire Rival” is damaged by time bomb while en route from Haifa to Port Said, Egypt.
7.4.1947: Jerusalem. High Court deny new appeal against death sentence of Dov Bela Gruner. A British patrol kill Moshe Cohen.
8.4.1947: Jerusalem. Jewish terrorists kill a British constable as ‘revenge’ for Cohen’s death.
9.4.1947: Palestine. Palestine Government abandons “statutory martial law” in face of unfavorable publicity. Grants itself military dictatorship powers in “controlled areas” it imposes.
10.4.1947: London. British Government requests France & Italy prevent Jews from embarking for Palestine.
11.4.1947: Jerusalem. Asher Eskovitch, a Jew, is beaten to death by Moslems when he enters forbidden Mosque of Omar.
13.4.1947: Jerusalem. Guella Cohen, Stern Gang illegal broadcaster, escapes from a British military hospital.
14.4.1947: Tel Aviv. British naval unit board refugee ship “Guardian”, seized with its 2,700 passengers after gun battle in which two immigrants are killed & 14 wounded.
16.4.1947: Haifa. In spite of reprisal threats from Irgun British hang Dov Bela Gruner & three other Irgun members at Acre Prison, Haifa Bay. Jewish communities are kept under curfew for several hours. After the deaths are announced, a time bomb found in the Colonial Office, London is defused.
17.4.1947: Palestine. Lt. Gen. G. MacMillan confirmed death sentences for two more convicted terrorists, Meier Ben Feinstein and Moshe Ben Barazani, but reduced Daniel Azulai’s sentence to life imprisonment.
18.4.1947: Palestine. Irgun’s reprisals for Gruner’s execution are an attack on a field dressing station near Nethanaya where a sentry is killed; an attack on an armored car in Tel Aviv where a bystander is killed and harmless shots at British troops in Haifa.
19.4.1947: Haifa. British naval units explode depth charges in Haifa harbor to prevent an underwater assault by Jewish “frogmen” on three British deportation vessels that took the “Guardian’s” passengers to Cyprus.
20.4.1947: Tel Aviv. A series of bombings by Jewish terrorists in retaliation for hanging of Gruner injures 12 British soldiers.
21.4.1947: Jerusalem. Meier Feinstein & Moshe Barazani, condemned terrorists, kill themselves in prison a few hours before they were scheduled to be hanged. Blow themselves up with bombs smuggled to them in hollowed-out oranges.
22.4.1947: Palestine. Troop train from Cairo is bombed outside Rehovoth. Five soldiers & three civilians killed; 39 injured.
23.4.1947: London. First Lord of Admiralty, Viscount Hall, defends Labor Government policy in Palestine. Acknowledges in House of Lords “Britain would not carry out a policy of which it did not approve” despite any UN action. Blames ‘contributions from American Jews’ to Palestine terrorists as ‘aiding terrorism’.
Cited toll since August 1, 1945: 113 killed, 249 wounded, 168 Jews convicted, 28 sentenced to death, four executed, 33 terrorists slain in battles. Viscount Samuel(J) urges increased immigration.
23.4.1947: Palestine. Irgun proclaim its own “military courts” to “try” British troops & police who “resist” them; Lt. General Sir Alan Cunningham, Palestine High Commander flies to Egypt to request of Lt. General Sir Miles Dempsey, Middle-East land-force commander “more troops for Palestine“.
25.4.1947: Tel Aviv. Stern Gang squad drive stolen Post Office van loaded with explosives into Sarona police compound. Detonation kills five British police.
26.4.1947:Haifa. Murder of Deputy Police Superintendent A. Conquest.
May 4, 1947: Acre. Walls of Acre prison are blasted open by Irgun bomb squad. 251 Jewish & Arab prisoners escape after gun battle in which 15 Jews and 1 Arab are killed, 32 (including six British guards) are injured and 23 prisoners are recaptured. Palestine Government promised ‘no extra punishment’ if 189 escapees return.
4.5.1947, New York. Political Action Committee for Palestine runs series of advertisements in New York newspapers seeking “funds to buy parachutes for young European Jews planning to crash Palestine’s immigration barrier by air“.
6.5.1947: Jerusalem. Former British Commando Sgt. Dov Bernard Cohen, head of Acre bomb squad, is fatally wounded in an attack.
8.5.1947, Tel Aviv. Jew is ambushed & shot to death by Arab group near Tel Aviv. Three Jewish-owned Tel Aviv shops whose owners refused to contribute money to Jewish terrorist groups are burned down.
12.5.1947, Jerusalem. Jewish terrorists kill two British police;
12.5.1947: Jerusalem. British authorities announce: 312 Jewish political prisoners are being held in Kenya, East Africa; 247 in Latrun; 34 in Bethlehem, Palestine.
15.5.1947: Stern Gang kill two British lieutenants & injure seven persons with two derailments & three bridge demolitions.
16.5.1947, Palestine. On fifth day of a terrorist wave, Haifa Assistant Police Superintendent, Robert Schindler, a German Jew, is murdered by Stern Gang & a British constable is killed on Mt. Carmel-Haifa road, Jerusalem.
17.5.1947, Haifa. 1,200-ton Haganah freighter “Trade Winds” is seized by Royal Navy off Lebanese coast. Escorted into Haifa over 1,000 illegal immigrants are disembarked pending transfer to Cyprus.
19.5.1947, London. British government protests to United States government over American fund-raising efforts for Palestine terrorist groups. Complaint refers to “A Letter to the Terrorists of Palestine” by playwright Ben Hecht, American League for a Free Palestine co-chairman, published in ‘New York Post‘ May 15. Ad says: “We aim to raise millions for YOU.”
22.5.1947, Palestine. Arabs attack Jewish labor camp in southern Palestine, retaliating for Haganah raid on Arabs near Tel Aviv, May 20. 40,000 Arab & Jewish workers unite the same day in one-day strike against all establishments operated by British War Ministry.
23.5.1947, Palestine. British naval party board immigrant ship “Mordei Haghettoath” off South Palestine. Take control of its 1,500 passengers. Two British soldiers are convicted in Jerusalem of ‘abandoning a jeep & army mail under terrorist attack‘.
27.5.1947, Germany. Jewish underground migration officials in Frankfurt-am-Main declare they hope to transport 1,000,000 Jews from Europe to Palestine - 30,000 of them this summer. Costa Rican ship “Colony Trader” is detained at Gibraltar under suspicion it is for smuggling illegal immigrants to Palestine. London investigates reports non-Jewish Poles & Slavs in DP camps are joining a ‘Palestine Army‘. Investigations are also conducted into persistent reports Soviet Russia is supplying ‘technical advisors’ to Jewish terror groups.
28.5.1947, Syria. Fawzi el-Kawukji, who spent WWII in Germany after leading the 1936-39 Arab Revolt in Palestine, tells reporters in Damascus ‘an unfavorable decision [by the UN inquiry group] would be a signal for war against Jews in Palestine. We must prove that - in case of an Anglo-American war with Russia - we can be more dangerous or useful to [the West] than the Jews are”. 28.5.1947, Haifa. Jewish terrorists blow up a water main & shed in Haifa’s oil dock area. Three attacks on railway lines in Lydda-Haifa area.

31.7.1947, Nathanya. Bodies of the two murdered British sergeants are found hanging from eucalyptus trees one and a half miles from Nathanya at 5:30 AM. August 1st, 1947, Tel Aviv. Thirty-three Jews are injured in anti-British riot at Tel Aviv during funeral of five civilians killed by British soldiers on July 31. In Jerusalem a Jewish terrorist attack on British Security Zone, Rehavia is repulsed. One attacker is killed, two are captured.

Irgun terrorists claims incident is part of campaign to disrupt all Palestine’s rail traffic. 16.8.1947, Palestine. Arab-Jewish clashes bring deaths to 12 Arabs & 13 Jews with heavy property destruction in regions of Jewish Tel Aviv and Arab Jaffa. Inter-racial strife was renewed on August 10 when Arabs killed four Jews in a Tel Aviv cafe, in reprisal for death of two Arabs in Haganah raid on Fega two months earlier. French police announce Stern Gang attack on London with home-made fire extinguisher/bombs from the air is thwarted through cooperation of Reginald Gilbert of St. Louis, Missouri, a student & wartime RCAF/AAF pilot. He was taken into custody with Rabbi Baruch Korff of New York, co-chair of the Political Action Committee for Palestine, & Judith Rosenberger, Hungarian-born Stern Gang member, as the three entered a private plane at Toussus-le-Noble field, Versailles. Gilbert informed French police when Korff approached him in Paris a week earlier requesting ‘a bombing mission over London’ the day the Exodus 1947 detainees arrived in Germany. Gilbert cooperated with Paris police & Scotland Yard till Korff was charged on September 9 with illegal possession of bombs he intended dropping on London. Korff began a hunger strike. 29.12.1947, Palestine. Irgun kidnap & flog a British Major E. Brett & three sergeants in retaliation for flogging of Benjamin Kimkhim, sentenced to 18 years in prison on 27.12.19147 for bank robbery. Major was seized in Nathanya & sergeants from Tel Aviv & Rishon el Siyon. Each got 18 lashes, same number Kimkhim received.
29.12.1947, Jerusalem. Irgun bomb at Damascus Gate kills 11 Arabs & two Britons.
30.12.1947, London. Dollis Hill Synagogue is set on fire. 12 sacred scrolls are destroyed by angry British citizens who scrawled on the burned edifice “You whip—we burn.”
21-31.12.1947, Palestine. Number of death from violence in Palestine rose to 489 in 33 days since UN decided for ‘partition’.
January 3 - 10 1948, Palestine. Extensive Jewish Agency purchases of U.S. war-surplus high explosives in New York City are disclosed. From one shipment of 264 tons of TNT and the more powerful M-3, 191 tons are seized but 73 tons make it to Palestine. The TNT was discovered accidentally. Longshoremen loading American Export Lines freighter “Executor” in Jersey City.
January 3 dropped a box marked “industrial machinery”. When attempting to repair the box they uncovered cans of TNT bearing U.S. Army markings. “Machinery” proved to be 32 tons of TNT. U.S. Customs impounded as contraband because of ban on American arms shipments to Middle East. On
January 10, FBI traced source of the contraband to the Jewish Agency for Palestine. On 1.10.1948 JAP acknowledged it had purchased 199 tons of M-3 from the War Assets Administration at US Army Seneca Ordnance Depot near Romulus, New York. Federal & State agents recovered 126 tons from a farmhouse & trucks near Asbury Park, New Jersey & Barclay Heights & Saugerties, New York.
January 8-9. 73 tons were already en route to Palestine. Jewish Agency claimed its transaction with the WAA ‘legal‘ but admitted it set up a false front organisation - Foundry Associates, Inc, New York - with a Haganah agent in charge to buy explosives for the war against the Arabs. FBI said Leonard Weisman, president of three New York firms (Pratt Steamship Line, Material Redistribution Corporation and Paragon Design and Development Co.) gave the Haganah agent office space but did nothing illegal. WAA stopped all deliveries on unfilled orders on January 9 in the New York area. It said Foundry Associates, Inc. had sworn it was a normal trader in explosives thereby qualified to buy M-3 & the export question was a U.S. Department of State issue.

Firstly, on 2. 4. 1947, Britain referred ‘Holy Land dispute’ to UN with a calls for a General Assembly session which lasted from 29. 4 - 15. 5. 1947. UNGA appointed ‘Special Committee of Inquiry into Palestine Problem‘. On 31.8.1947 Special Palestine Committee (UNSCOP) recommended partition & an internationalized Jerusalem. On 29.11.1947 UNGA approved partition by 33 -13 (10 abstentions). U.S. was chief instigator of ‘a separate Jewish State‘. Lead to intensified Arab resistance in Palestine.
11.12.1947: Britain nominated May 15 as date to ‘surrender its mandate’ of Palestine.
16.2.1948: UNGA’s Palestine Commission calls for “a UN army to enforce partition & overcome Arab resistance“.
24.2.1948: U.S. avoids endorsing forced partition by asking UN Security Council to “seek Arab-Jewish agreement“.
19.3.1948: After UNSC conciliation effort fails U.S. drops partition demand in favour of ‘UN trusteeship of Palestine‘.
1.4.1948: UNSC accede (Russia abstaining) to U.S. demand for a special UNGA session to “reconsider the Palestine problem”. Passes U.S. resolution urging “Arab-Jewish truce“.

25.4.1948: Jaffa. Irgun launch attack on Arab Jaffa. Claim it is a “stronghold for Arabs”. Irgun also attack Tel Aviv with 2,000 men, armored cars & mortars. Capture Arab district of Mansieh. Advance is only halted when British use fighter bombers & light artillery against them [?! RE].
27.4.1948, Palestine. Initially condemning Irgun attack on Jaffa, the Haganah sign agreement with Irgun after the latter agree to place their Forces ‘under Haganah control’. Both terror groups then re-new assault on Jaffa. The larger Haganah quickly seize Jaffa’s Eastern & Southern suburbs.
29.4.1948: This entirely Arab city is encircled & all but 15,000 of its inhabitants driven from the city. Under the Partition Agreement it was to be an ‘Arab Only Area’. In Tel Aviv, Stern Gangsters rob Barclay’s Bank of US$1 million.
30.4.1948, Jerusalem. Haganah score victories against Arab residents after UN fails to arrange a truce to protect historical shrines in ancient Walled City. Jewish extremists threaten to “dynamite the Al Aqsa (Dome of the Rock) Mosque unless all Arabs immediately leave Jerusalem”. British respond: “if that happens we will blow up the Wailing Wall” last remnant of the destroyed Temple. Haganah agrees ‘to respect both Arab & Christian monuments’ but demands all Arabs & Christians leave Jerusalem. In an attack they call “defensive” Haganah forces overran Christian-Arab Katamon quarter in southwestern Jerusalem; captured the Moslem Mamilla cemetery. Jewish workers seize the General Post Office, Jerusalem. In Katamon, Haganah captured St. Simon’s Greek Orthodox Monastery, drive out monks & vandalise the building. British troops arrive to prevent further massacres of unarmed Arabs.
2nd May 1948, Jerusalem. British finally halt Jewish advances in Jerusalem by rushing several thousand mechanized army units & Royal Marine Commandos to Palestine. Primary purpose is to protect Arab civilians from being slaughtered by rampaging Zionists.
5 - 8. 5.1948, Palestine. Haganah, renamed as “The Jewish Army”, thwarted by the British Army, change their assaults to Upper Galilee, NorthEastern Palestine. Claim to have ‘crushed all Arab resistance’ by the end of the week. Safad, capital of Upper Galilee, a city of 15,000 Arabs is reported by the Jewish Agency as having been “cleansed” of Arabs by May 6. Only remaining occupants are now 2,000 Jews. Haganah announce all Arab property has been ‘confiscated’ & will be given to Jewish settlers.
4.5.1948, Tel Aviv. 37-man Jewish Legislative Council met in Tel Aviv to hear Premier-designate David Ben-Gurion declare “150,000 Arabs have been driven from their homes in the past five months but the Jews haven’t lost a single settlement.” Stern Gang resume “direct war” against British in retaliation for their protection of Arab Jerusalem. Seven British soldiers are killed, Nethanya. Stern Gang also take credit for a letter bomb which kills the young brother of a British army officer in England.
6.5.1948, Jerusalem. Haganah is re-designated as the Jewish State Army. Reports that 200 aircraft are slated to reinforce the new Army. Army will be increased to 85,000 immediately. British later establish these aircraft have been secretly imported from Czechoslovakia whose new communist government is entirely composed of Zionists and who have been “pouring weapons into Palestine for years”.
16.5.1948, New York. Number of states recognizing Israel increases to eight this week. Israel applies for admission to UN. Russia immediately grants recognition on May 17, implying it recognises Israel’s government as the de jure (legal) government. United States recognized Israel only as the de facto (in fact) government.
22.5.1948, Jerusalem. Thomas Wasson, U.S. Consul General in Jerusalem & a member of UNSC’s Truce Commission is murdered by a Stern Gang sniper near U.S. Consulate. Two other Consulate members are also shot. One dies the next day.

IRGUN: The Irgun Zvi Leumi (IZL) militia was the party army of the Revisionist Party, a neo-Nazi group founded in Russia in 1903 by the notorious Ze'ev Jabotinsky, assassinated by the British in 1940. Irgun leader Menachem Begin changed its name to Herut in 1973 and formed a bloc with similar fascist parties. This 'bloc' or LIKUD won the 1997 elections. It ruled till 1988.
In 1983 Begin stepped down and handed power to the former Stern Gang leader Istzak Shamir. LIKUD lost power in 1988 to Labour who lost again to LIKUD in 1996. Present LIKUD Prime Minister 'Bibi' Netanyahu is heir to 70 years of Fascist terror. It is no wonder he routinely assaults other nations. But why are they never punished by the 'International Community'?
